Bespoke hand drawn pet portraits make a heartfelt and lasting gift.

A large number of my pet portraits are commissioned by owners looking for a heartfelt way to remember a pet who has recently crossed the rainbow bridge. By working from a clear photo and learning about your pet’s character, I aim to capture their presence in a colourful, detailed pastel portrait. Many clients find that having a painting of a treasured pet offers great comfort during such a difficult time.

Each artwork is crafted by hand in my garden studio using high-quality velour paper and pastels. Whether it’s a portrait of a beloved pet or a favourite animal, my goal is to create artwork that you’ll treasure forever.

After my initial drawing, I block in tone like an under painting with pastels. From here I think about bone structure, what’s going on under the surface and what I’m going to emphasise to create/maximise form. I start adding colour and texture, checking my tonal balance as I go. Finally I check proportions and overall balance before adding fine detail and crisping up highlights. I like to ensure a viewer will focus on my chosen areas by using contrasting tone in a small area.
